Why do people betray?

I've always got betrayal in life with no fault of mine.Now, even when I see that there are people in this world who are really genuine to theirs partners or family, I just can accept it, I cant trust i feel somewhere he must be betraying. I would like to know why do people betray? and how to find out whether the person is genuine to me or not?
