Can anyone remember a skipping song from the 70's which started - The night was dark and the war was over,

The rest of the song went " Battlefields lie covered in blood, there I met a wounded soldier, dying and saying his prayers. " Bless my home in bonny scotland, bless my wife and only child. Bless the men who fought the battle holding up the union jack. It seems very gory for a child's skipping song and I wondered where it originated from. It came from Scotland.
