Do you have insight on why ex's will demean the other's parenting role?

I'm going to tell you what I tell my son. We don't know why someone acts like that because there's no way we could get into her head. It could be that she feels she has superior parenting skills or it could be that she's just stubborn and needs to be right. Only she knows. Those poor children, stuck in the middle once again.
