Do Italians find the reality mess "Jersey Shore" offensive?

I know there are stereotypes of all races/cultures, but does this one represent Italians negatively? I would like to think this show is a stereotype, but then again, there are Italians who are "guidos" and "guidas". Are the "death threats" against MTV producers reinforcing negative images of Italians and mob/mafia ties??
